Job Title: Web Developer (WordPress)

As an ambitious small business growing fast, we’re seeking a Web Developer (WordPress) with a strong eye for clean, modern design and the ability to translate project ideas into engaging, functional websites. The ideal candidate will be able to balance technical expertise with creative design sensibilities and will have a deep understanding of WordPress structure, themes, and plugins.

What you’ll achieve

• You’ll build new projects/websites from start to finish
• You’ll help improve performance and reliability, debug or polish existing websites & features.
•  You’ll build internal tools to help improve team productivity

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain WordPress websites that align with project goals and brand identity.
• Customize themes and templates to deliver visually appealing, user-friendly interfaces.
• Translate project concepts and client requirements into functional web solutions.
• Ensure websites are optimized for performance, responsiveness, and SEO best practices.
• Manage WordPress structure including themes, plugins, widgets, and custom post types.
• Troubleshoot and resolve website issues (including updates), ensuring smooth functionality across browsers and devices.
• Collaborate with designers, content creators, and project managers to capture ideas and bring them to life online.
• Stay updated with WordPress trends, tools, and best practices.

Skills & Experience

You have 1 – 3 years of experience as a WordPress Web Developer:

• You have proven experience with a portfolio of clean, well-designed websites, and a strong understanding of plugin integration, and the WordPress core.

You’re pragmatic and business-oriented:

• You’re able to capture abstract project ideas and translate them into practical web solutions, and you care about the business impact of what you’re building, and understand the balance between craft, speed, and the bottom line.

You put users first:

• You think critically about the implications of what you’re building, how it shapes the user experience, and strive to meet or exceed the clients’ expectations.

Required:

• Experience with page builders (e.g., Elementor, WPBakery, Gutenberg).
• Familiarity with e-commerce platforms (WooCommerce).
• Proficiency in front-end technologies: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and responsive design frameworks.
• Experience with PHP and MySQL for WordPress customization.
• Familiarity with SEO principles and website performance optimization.
• Excellent attention to detail and a passion for clean, functional design.
• Open-minded and continuous willingness to learn.
• AI savvy and willingness to explore the use of different AI tools to enhance productivity.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

These could be a plus:

• Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Understanding of UX/UI principles.
• Solid understanding of WordPress structure, theme & plugin development.
